Stories and musings about food, music(Vinyl in particular), and Paul’s serialised chronicles.
We started Bring BackVinyl Supper Club for a number of reasons, my passion for cooking is the main one. I was running out of people to cook for, and cooking for two is fine but I want to please more folk. I want to become more adventurous. I have experienced food from all around the world whilst travelling, and I want to showcase different cuisines with a Paul twist. Debi’s love for entertaining and her skill with interior design and crafts is another reason. Also having to give up my main job I needed to find an income top up.
I have had the idea for a while, but Covid slowed us down. Combining my love for food and my love of music seemed obvious to me. So we decided we would set a theme and invite people to a hearty 5 course dinner whilst playing their vinyl (or ours). Initially the theme was to eat yourself around the world, and it probably still is although not too rigidly. We want to do some non geographic themes also.
As you will notice if you read some of the other posts on our website, when we go travelling we search out different food and lesser known restaurants. We always look for live music, be it a gig, a music bar, or even a busker. So we have some interesting finds to tell you about. I even found a Blues bar and restaurant on The Azores, a group of Portuguese islands in the middle of the Atlantic. When we do a Portuguese night some of the food will be off The Colegio 27 Jazz Club menu.
So far we have had French, Moroccan, and Eastern Mediterranean evenings. September will bring a menu from Northern Italy, so don’t expect to be overrun with pasta. This part of Italy tend to eat more rice than pasta. I have finalised the menu, and it’s on our facebook page @bringbackvinyl and on our Nextdoor site.
