We came up to Ronda, a seemingly impenetrable old city in the Malaga Province of Spain. It is about 35 minutes drive from the Juzcar (Smurf town) and 1 hr from the coast. The views are stunning and this small city itself is wonderful.
A little bit of History
There are Prehistoric settlements around Ronda dating back to the Neolithic Age; but the current Ronda is of Roman origins. Founded by Scipio Africanus (The dude that went after Hannibal) during one of the Punic Wars. Here I go again with my fixation on The Roman Empire. No more history save to say the Outcrop that Ronda is situated upon seems almost unassailable from the South East.
Wondering around
Two other bridges that span the canyon, The Puente Romano and the Puente Viejo. All three are very impressive, as is the centre of the city. The oldest bullfighting ring in Spain is situated here, in The Plaza de Toros de Ronda. The address is a clue! The Corrida Goyesca is a historical bullfight that takes place once a year. No bulls die. Have a wonder around the Plaza del Socorro and the Casa del Rey Moro, before having lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants over looking the canyon.

Eating
There are many fabulous restaurants in Ronda. We chose De Locos Tapas for lunch. Sitting on the veranda of this old house and eating a range of high quality Tapas was perfect. Potatos Bravos, ham and eggs, black pudding , croquettes and many more dishes were on offer..
