If having a cat who thinks she is a dog isn’t enough, we now have a dog who thinks he’s a goat. Ziggy arrived from Spain 3weeks ago. I’m told that I promised Debi a dog when she retired. ( I don’t remember that conversation, but hey-ho he’s here now). He is a 4 month old Spanish Podenco (whatever that is). My sister runs an animal rescue centre called Valle Verde Animal Rescue. The charity finds homes for abandoned cats and dogs and by doing so raises awareness for the plight of these animals. As my sister, Linda, was driving over in her motorhome she brought Ziggy with her.

Our idea is for our 7 year old cat, aptly named Dogcat, to befriend Ziggy. We hope they will snuggle up together and travel with us in Old Red. This hasn’t happened yet, I wonder why???

Traveling hound

Ziggy is skinny, cute, and boisterous as a young puppy should be. His foster mother in Spain has done a marvelous job with him. He already sits by the door when he wants to go out and sits nicely for his food. He recently came on our trip to Scotland with us. Debi bought him a special seat and harness and he sits between us in Old Red. He had a great time playing with other dogs and frolicking in the shallows of the Lochs.

We already love him to bits and he is now a member of our traveling family. Hope he and Dogcat will become friends soon. It will be interesting for having both of them in our little van.

FYI a Podenco is a Spanish hunting dog. However, the only thinks Ziggy hunts is stuff he shouldn’t have!
